A common question that we receive with regards to our communications platform is:
I use my cell phone, why do I need another phone number to pay for?
This is a great point, which we usually respond with another question that goes like this:
What number do you put on your website?
With that, an instant realization that a number can give a business an identity. A number gives the perception of a “brick and mortar” company, an organization that has a place of business. Whether you have one or not, that is not the point; the mental impression has been made.
An interesting conversation I had with a customer after posting my question was about their email and website address. As soon as they decided to start a business, there was no hesitation in purchasing a custom URL for their website and email because it makes them look and feel more professional. How much more efficient and vocational do you look with [email protected] address versus [email protected].
Like a custom URL, a business number is an essential marketing cost that every organization needs. Stop using your cell phone number as your primary business number!
