Slingshot vs Ooma
An Ooma alternative. Built around people, not desks.
Ooma Office grew up around office hardware: base stations, adapters and its own desk phones, with a mobile app on every plan. Slingshot is a business line on the phones your people already carry, with desk phones optional. Here is how they compare, with Ooma's prices as they publish them.
7-day free trial, no credit card. US$5 a person a month after that.

One is built around the desk. One is built around the people.
Pick Slingshot to pay for people, not equipment
Slingshot runs on the phones your people already carry. There is nothing to buy, nothing to install and nothing to box up if you leave. The desktop app and desk phones come with Pro, which costs less per person than Ooma's entry plan.
Pick Ooma if you are replacing an old landline system
Ooma is built around office hardware: base stations, adapters for older handsets and its own IP phones. If you are retiring a landline setup and want to keep the handsets on the desks, that is a real strength.
Pick Slingshot if your team is rarely at a desk
Departments ring everyone in them at once, wherever they are standing, and the caller never knows whether the answer came from the office or a job site. The business line follows your people instead of waiting on a desk.

The line goes where your people go.
Ooma grew up in the office, and it shows in the best way: base stations, adapters for older handsets, phones that arrive in a box ready to plug in. For a business with a front desk and a wired office, that is a sensible way to buy a business line.
The phone is where a customer decides whether to trust you.
Most small teams do not work like that any more. The person who should answer is at a site, on the road or at home, and the call still has to reach them. Slingshot puts the business line on the phones your people already carry, so a customer gets an answer from wherever the right person is.
Because there is nothing to install, there is nothing to send back. If Slingshot is not right for you, you leave with your number and no box to return. Ooma includes more in its price than we do on several rows above, and every one of them is marked.
Slingshot is built and run by dgNetrix Communications, a phone company since 2006, by people who have been in telecom since 1998. We know what the contract, the install and the paperwork cost, which is how we know none of it needs to be in your way.
Moving from Ooma.
Can I bring my Ooma number?
Yes, at no charge. You authorise the move on screen, we file it, and we show you the date the carrier gives us. Keep Ooma running until the number arrives so no caller reaches a dead line in between.
If you bought hardware from Ooma recently, check its return terms before you cancel. Ooma's money-back guarantee covers returns inside its first 30 days.
Can I use my Ooma desk phones?
Often, yes. Pro works with any SIP-enabled phone, and brands like Yealink and Grandstream are common on both sides. Some hardware is designed for Ooma's service only and will not move with you. Send us the make and model before you switch and we will tell you which is which.
Does Slingshot include a toll-free number?
Not in the plan price. A toll-free number is an add-on on Pro, with 100 inbound minutes included and a per-minute rate after that. If a toll-free line is central to how customers reach you, Ooma including one on every plan is a real advantage.
Is Slingshot cheaper than Ooma?
Per person, yes. Pro costs less than Ooma's entry plan in both countries, and there is no activation fee and no equipment to buy. Ooma includes more on a few rows, toll-free and texting among them, so if you need those today, compare the totals against your real setup.
