Slingshot

Slingshot vs Google Voice

A Google Voice alternative. A phone menu from the first plan.

Google Voice is a phone add-on for Google Workspace. Slingshot is a business line that stands on its own, with a greeting and departments on every plan. Here is how they compare, with Google's Voice prices as they publish them.

The short version

One is part of a suite. One is the line on its own.

Pick Slingshot to get a phone menu without the top plans

Google Voice keeps its multi-level auto attendant and ring groups for Standard and up, so a small team on Voice Starter gets neither. Every Slingshot plan has both, our entry plan included.

Pick Google Voice if your business already runs on Google

Voice sits inside Workspace: voicemail and texts land in Gmail, calls follow your Google Calendar working hours, and your admin manages it alongside everything else. If you live in Google already, that is a real convenience.

Pick Slingshot if your line should not depend on your email

Slingshot is its own service. You do not need a Workspace plan to use it, voicemail goes to whatever inbox you use, and moving your email one day never touches your phones.

Your business line should not depend on your email.

Google Voice is a good product inside a great suite. If your business runs on Gmail and Google Calendar, a phone that shares the same admin, the same sign-in and the same inbox is a genuine convenience.

The phone is where a customer decides whether to trust you.

The catch is the dependency. For a team, Voice is added to a Workspace plan, so the phone line rides on the email subscription, and the features callers notice first, a menu and a group that rings together, start a plan up. Slingshot is the business line on its own: a greeting and departments from the first plan, and nothing to change if you ever move your email.

Where Google wins, the table says so: texting in the US, Gmail and Calendar, and calling on every plan. If those matter most to you, Voice is a fine choice.

Slingshot is built and run by dgNetrix Communications, a phone company since 2006, by people who have been in telecom since 1998. We know what the contract, the install and the paperwork cost, which is how we know none of it needs to be in your way.

Switching

Moving from Google Voice.

Can I bring my Google Voice number?

In most cases, yes, and it costs nothing on our side. Start the transfer from your Slingshot dashboard and leave the number on Voice until it lands with us, so the line never goes quiet in between.

Do I need Google Workspace to use Slingshot?

No. Slingshot is its own service, and voicemail is emailed to whatever inbox you use, Gmail included. If you leave Google one day, your phones do not notice.

Can I keep texting from my number?

Texting on Slingshot is still being built for Pro, and we will publish the details when it is live. Google Voice texts within the US today, so a US business that depends on texting should wait for ours before moving.

Is Slingshot cheaper than Google Voice?

For a team that needs a greeting that routes callers, yes: three people on Slingshot Starter cost less than one person on Voice Standard, before the Workspace plan Voice is added to. A single person pays less with us too, though Voice Starter includes texting in the US.

Be the business that picks up.

A real business number, on the phone already in your pocket, in the next few minutes.
